Projects that foster dialogue

In our projects that involve both scientists and artists, we aim to achieve mutual collaboration, where the perspectives from both disciplines truly influence each other.

We put a lot of focus on the ability of the artistic practice to develop spaces where people from different backgrounds and disciplines can have a dialogue about various issues. We have previously worked with artists, scientists, local community members and youth to develop projects where both science and art influence the dialogues. These dialogues can be about climate change and sustainability. But we can also use such approaches to tackle other challenging issues that are highly influenced by our own values and world-views.

We develop projects where the art is an intricate part of the communication between the people involved. In this way, the participants themselves can chose what type of art to produce. In doing so, the participants can express themselves in ways that are true to their perspectives, their interests, their culture and their world-views.

Artistic processes have the power to bring people together, facilitate them getting to know each other and open up for sharing stories around issues that are important to them and where scientists can also be important stakeholders around the table.

Our projects have developed community art in Bangladesh about climate, youth-led art exhibitions about tipping points in Antarctica (video here), and science-art activities about climate models for young people. We strive to work at the nexus between science and art to achieve dialogues where everyone feels welcome and heard.
